Thoughts on travel, work, and life

International Terrier – A dog’s eye view on the nomadic life

Harley has taken quite well to traveling (although he’s not really fond of long walks in hot cities anymore). Basically, if his humans, food, and bed/blanket are there—he’s home. He gets so excited when it’s time to pack up, get in the truck, and head to a new location. At 14, he does a lot of sleeping, but he’s pretty energetic when it comes to jumping in the truck and racing up the RV steps (now, if we could just get him to aim better and not crash into the side of either!). He’s also quite pleased that so many breweries, cideries, and wineries are dog-friendly—and we’re all excited to learn which cities are the most dog-friendly (since Boston is decidedly less than dog-friendly—did you know that patios are considered part of the restaurant in Boston, which means no dogs other than service dogs?). We’ve only had one trip to a new vet thus far (tummy issues), but it could not have been easier. Our Newton vet (beloved VCA Rotherwood) sent us his records, and the local vet welcomed us with open arms (and we reciprocated, of course, with open wallet).
